The Pelham School District is proud to announce the 2019 Spelling Bee Program. All 4 Elementary Schools and the Middle School will have a Spelling Bee program this year.

Pelham Spelling Bee Program:

Each elementary school will hold a Pelham Spelling Bee program for Grades 2-5.
Please be in touch with your local PTA coordinator (listed below) for details about the Program in your school. The Program cost is $35 per child for 8 hours of coaching from a Pelham teacher/spelling coach. Scholarships are available.

Pelham Middle School will hold a Spelling Bee program for Grades 6-8 after school.
Please be in touch with your ELA teacher for details.

Participation in the formal Pelham Spelling Bee Program is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged as it encourages teamwork and helps develop a deeper understanding of the intricacies and rules of the Spelling Bee official competition program.

Spelling Bee Competition:

Each school will have an internal school competition in early May. Grade 2 will not compete outside of the classroom. The District Spelling Bee will be held on May 17, 2019 and the top 3 spellers from each school will represent their school at the District level.

If a student in grades 3-8 would like to compete in the Building Bee, but not participate in the instructional coaching program, the student/parent MUST notify Dr. Maria Thompson via email no later than Friday, February 15 the final deadline for registration if you are not participating in the instructional program.

The word list for Pelham’s Spelling Bee Program 2019 will be distributed through the instructional program or Dr. Thompson. If you have any questions please reach out to your PTA, your building principal or Dr. Thompson at x1108.
