Update on Plans for 2021-22 School Year

Update on Plans for 2021-22 School Year
Alexander Wolff

Dear Pelham Community,

Yesterday, we learned that neither the Governor’s office nor the New York State Department of Health will be providing updated guidance for the opening of schools in September. While we are disappointed in the state’s decision, I am confident that our experiences at the end of last school year combined with recently released guidance from the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics will provide the framework for a safe return to full-time in-person instruction for all students in September.

Throughout the summer our administrators have been actively preparing for a variety of contingencies for the fall. Next week, we will reconvene our Reopening Task Force to review our plans and will share additional details following that meeting. We remain committed to returning all of our students to the classroom five days a week under the regular daily schedule so that we can provide the rich academic experience that our students deserve.

Please continue to stay well and enjoy the remaining weeks of summer.

Sincerely,

Cheryl H. Champ, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
