Participate in the Search for Our Next Assistant Superintendent
Alexander Wolff

Dear Pelham Community,

On Saturday, the Board of Education approved a contract with Hazard Young & Attea to assist with the search process for our next Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services to succeed Julia Chung. Hazard Young & Attea (HYA) is a nationwide executive search firm specializing in education. With their expertise and knowledge of the District, I am confident that they will help us find a strong fit to lead the PPS Department, which oversees special education, counseling and health services.

The search process will begin with a number of stakeholder focus groups, including teachers, clinicians, administrators, support staff, Board of Education members, SEPTA and parents/guardians. Additionally, all families are invited to attend one of three open virtual forums with our search consultants:

Families and staff are also encouraged to complete a short survey to assist with the search. The survey will close on Monday, March 21.

The information gleaned from these focus groups and the survey will help formulate a leadership profile that will be used to screen prospective candidates during the search. HYA will then recommend a slate of candidates to me for consideration. Top candidates will then meet with teachers, administrators, and families with finalists being interviewed by my cabinet and then the Board of Education, with a final selection and appointment anticipated by early May.

I want to once again thank Rosemary Matthews for providing stability and leadership to the PPS Department for the remainder of the year and look forward to a thorough and successful search.

Sincerely,

Cheryl H. Champ, Ed. D.
