Dear Pelham Community, The Pelham Public Schools received a clean audit of the 2020-21 fiscal year from its independent accounting firm that reviews the District’s finances each year. At the Board of Education’s meeting on October 6, Scott Oling and Marc Callinan of PKF O’Connor Davies Accountants and Advisors reviewed the results of their audit of the District that began over the summer. As part of the audit, the independent firm analyzes the District’s budget, expenditures, revenues, reserves and capital expenses. The audit also includes a review of accounting policies and procedures, internal controls and compliance with laws, regulations, and provisions of contracts and agreements as well as the District’s revenues and expenditures. Overall, the auditors said the District was on solid fiscal ground, noting that similar to other districts in the area, the Pelham Public Schools ran a surplus last school year. The surplus was credited to conservative budgeting, higher than expected sales tax and state aid revenue, and lower than expected expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Independent Auditor’s Report, Extraclassroom Activities Report, Management Letter and Agreed Upon Procedures have been posted to the District website. The Board of Education will meet for a work session on Academics During the Pandemic at 7:30pm on Wednesday, October 20. The next regular business meeting will be held on November 3. Sincerely, The Pelham Public Schools |
