The deadline to grant authorization for your child to participate in the District’s COVID-19 testing program has been extended to this coming Monday, October 11 at 12pm. If you have not already done so, please check for an email from “C-19 Safety First” (subject line Mount Sinai Health Systems Covid Testing - Invitation) with information about how to grant authorization for testing and consider granting consent. If you did not receive this email, please reach out to the District’s COVID-19 Coordinator Bridget Gates via email at email@example.com.
Please note that this testing program is available to all students regardless of vaccination status and participation is strongly encouraged to help identify presymptomatic or asymptomatic cases of COVID-19.
Below, please find some additional information about the program:
- The program used a PCR self-administered saliva sample that is processed by Mount Sinai Health Systems
- Test kits will be provided at school for students to take home and complete the samples. The kits are then returned to school for processing
- The first round of testing will be conducted next week and will include all students whose families granted consent. Test kits will be distributed on Thursday, October 14 for return on Friday, October 15.
- After the initial round of testing, the District will test approximately 20% of the school population each week. This will include students whose families granted consent on a rotational basis.
