Dear Pelham Community,
I am writing with bittersweet news that Christian Hodge, Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics will be ending his service in the Pelham Public Schools effective March 10, 2023 to take a similar position with another school district closer to his home. Mr. Hodge joined the Pelham schools in 2020 and skillfully led our athletic program through some of the most unique school years in history. Throughout his time in Pelham, he has been a cheerleader for our student athletes, overseen growth and great success in our athletic program and worked diligently to provide our athletes and coaches the resources and support they deserve.
The District is finalizing plans to provide oversight of our health, physical education and athletic departments for the short term to ensure that we continue to deliver our robust curriculum and support our student-athletes through the remainder of the year.
We have also begun a thorough search to find Mr. Hodge’s long-term successor with the goal of having this individual in place for July 1. The search process will include input from students, families and staff as we seek to recruit a talented pool of candidates and find a strong match to lead our physical education, health and athletic departments to even new heights. More information on the search process will be forthcoming.
Please join me in thanking Mr. Hodge for his contributions to the Pelham Public Schools and wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Cheryl H. Champ, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
