Reopening Update

Reopening Update
Alexander Wolff

Dear Pelham Parents and Community Members,

Today, Governor Cuomo announced that the mid-Hudson Region has met the necessary metrics for school districts to reopen. As part of his announcement, the governor instructed districts to post additional information regarding COVID-19 testing and contact tracing to their websites. Our District is working with the local department of health to finalize these details and more information will be provided as it becomes available. Additionally, we plan to hold a series of virtual sessions for parents to discuss our reopening plans and will share information once these sessions are scheduled.

As we communicated last week, the District will make a determination in mid-August as to how our schools will reopen as we continue to clarify guidance from various state and local agencies, monitor local conditions, and consider which approach will be best for our students, staff and families. Details about each of the models are available on the District website.

It is important to note that the Governor may still close schools between now and the start of the year, or once the school year has begun if there is an increase in our region's infection rate, or due to other factors. The District may also switch between models at any time based on local conditions. We will communicate any further changes as that information becomes available.

As September grows closer, we will continue to refine our plans and do all we can to make our schools as safe as possible and provide the best education we can under these challenging circumstances.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these uncharted waters and please enjoy a restful weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Champ
