Transportation to Non-Public Schools

In compliance with New York State Education Law § 3635, applications for Transportation to a Non-Public School MUST be completed and returned by April 1, preceding the beginning of the next school year.

Applications received after April 1 will not be approved. 

Applications must be completed and returned annually for continued transportation. If the school of attendance has yet to be determined, please fill out one form for each possible school. The Transportation Department must be notified of the final school choice by July 1, preceding the beginning of the next school year.

Note: If students who are new to the district require transportation, please complete and return the Application For Transportation To A Non-Public School a within 30 days of establishing residency.

Public Transportation

Once all applications have been received, the District will assess eligibility and determine which mode of transportation will be provided. Please understand that students of any age will be expected to travel using public transportation, such as a bus, subway or train whenever access to these modes of transportation is located within reasonable walking distance of the child's home and the school which they attend (including but not limited to The School of the Holy Child, Rye Country Day, Fordham Prep, Horace Mann, Stepinac, Riverdale Country School, St. John & Paul, Immaculate Heart of  Mary, Regis, The Brunswick School, The Dalton School, French American School of  NY, Salesian). 

Alternate Transportation

The District may consider an alternative mode of transportation in circumstances where public transportation is not accessible as described above, or if the number of students going to a particular location justifies the cost of an alternative means. In these cases, the District may offer transportation in consortium with other school districts, which is typically managed through Southern Westchester BOCES.

Notification of Mode of Transportation

Families will receive notice of the type of transportation you are approved for in August 2024.

If you change the school your child will be attending or decide that your child will not use the transportation service provided in 2024-2025 after submitting the application, please contact the Transportation Office.
