Hybrid Model

Overview

To allow for greater physical distancing within classrooms, the District may enact a hybrid approach to learning in which students would alternate between being in school and learning from home. In developing this approach, the District considered a number of factors, including health and safety of students and staff, the ability to provide effective learning, continuity of education, the feasibility of cleaning buildings, and feasibility for parents and staff.

Plan Highlights

  • Students will be divided into two cohorts (A & B), approximately half in each

  • Cohort A will be in school on Mondays and Tuesdays

  • Cohort B will be in school Thursdays and Fridays

  • Each cohort will rotate being in school on Wednesdays on a week-by-week basis

  • Students will be divided alphabetically into two cohorts (e.g. A & B), approximately half in each

  • Cohort A will be in school on Mondays and Tuesdays

  • Cohort B will be in school on Thursdays and Fridays

  • Each cohort will have an additional in person day of instruction on a weekly rotating basis. Given the amount of holidays that fall and particular days of the week, the District will adjust the rotation of Wednesdays In order to balance the in-person opportunities for instruction between cohorts

  • All Wednesdays during weeks where there are five school days will have a noon dismissals for students. The afternoons will be used for teacher planning and professional development. During shortened weeks (due to holidays or previously planned breaks), Wednesdays will be full days.

  • Virtual Office hours will be available before and after school for elementary students who are learning remotely.

  • A virtual academy period will be held daily for middle and high school students who are learning virtually, during which students can ask questions and receive more direct time with their teacher(s)

  • Elementary school days will be 9am-2:15pm for students with a staggered dismissal occurring from 2:15-2:45pm.

  • The Middle and High School schedule will run from 8:20am-2:15pm (Zero period begins at 7:40am) with slightly shortened periods to allow for staggered transitions between classes. The MS/HS academy period for virtual students runs from 2:20-2:55pm.

  • Students who are not in school on their respective days will view their classes from home

  • Each classroom has been equipped with a 4K document camera that will live stream classes and learning activities to the group that is at home, giving them the same access to direct instruction as the in-person cohort

  • All classroom lesson materials will be posted to Google Classroom so that both in- person and remote students have full access to the lesson

  • Students who are not in school on their respective days will participate in their classes from home

  • Each classroom has been equipped with a 4K document camera that can simulcast classes and learning activities to the group that is at home

  • Schools will be deep cleaned in between cohorts in the afternoon/evening
