Hybrid Model

The District’s Hybrid Learning Model involves students alternating between being in school and learning from home. In developing this approach, the District considered a number of factors, including health and safety of students and staff, the ability to provide effective learning, continuity of education, the feasibility of cleaning buildings, and providing stability for families by keeping children across multiple grade levels on a similar schedule.

Plan Highlights

  • Students are split into two balanced cohorts (A & B)

  • Cohort A will generally learn in person  on Mondays and Tuesdays

  • Cohort B will generally learn in person  on Thursdays and Fridays

  • Each cohort will rotate being in school on Wednesdays on a week-by-week basis

  • Given the amount of holidays that fall and particular days of the week, the District has adjusted the rotation of Wednesdays In order to balance the in-person opportunities for instruction between cohorts

  • All Wednesdays during weeks where there are five school days will have a noon dismissals for students. The afternoons will be used for teacher planning. During shortened weeks (due to holidays or previously planned breaks), Wednesdays will be full days.

  • Students who are not in school on their respective days will view their classes from home

  • Each classroom has been equipped with a 4K document camera that will live stream classes and learning activities to the group that is at home, giving them the same access to direct instruction as the in-person cohort

  • All classroom lesson materials will be posted to Google Classroom so that both in- person and remote students have full access to the lesson

  • Virtual Office hours will be available before and after school for elementary students who are learning remotely.

  • A virtual academy period will be held daily for middle and high school students who are learning virtually, during which students can ask questions and receive more direct time with their teacher(s)

  • Elementary school days will be 9am-2:15pm for students with a staggered dismissal occurring from 2:15-2:45pm.

  • The Middle and High School schedule will run from 8:20am-2:15pm (Zero period begins at 7:40am) with slightly shortened periods to allow for staggered transitions between classes. The MS/HS academy period for virtual students runs from 2:20-2:55pm.

  • Schools will be routinely sanitized through the day and at night
